About LIP

Welcome to Ladies In Power

Ladies In Power is a San Francisco based 501 c3 non-profit organization founded in 2006 by sister’s Taneshia & Raquel Miller. In 2008 Ladies In Power begin improving the lives of young ladies by proving them with knowledge, support, and life changing experiences. In January 2009 in honor of Cervical Cancer awareness month, we hosted our 1st Annual Cervical Cancer awareness summit. In March 2009 Woman’s History month, Ladies In Power was honor by San Francisco’s Mayor Gavin Newsom, SF Board of Supervisors, and the Department on the Status of Women for outstanding commitment and dedication to improving the lives of young women.

MISSION

As Ladies In Power our mission is to unite, strengthen, encourage, and educate young ladies. We provide the tools needed to build self-esteem, add confidence, and self motivation. We promote healthy living, financial freedom, and being a leader.

VISION

To empower young ladies to reach their full potential and to understand, value and assert their rights to be successful.

GOALS

Our goal is to make sure that girls: • Believe in themselves • Love who they are • and know they can achieve everything they set their mind to in life! .

What is A Lady In Power?

A “Lady In Power” is a strong confident female, with self esteem and knows she’s capable of achieving anything she puts her mind to!

LIP History

Ladies In Power was founded in San Francisco, California in 2006. In 2008 Ladies In Power begin improving the lives of young ladies by proving them with knowledge, support, and life changing experiences. In January 2009 in honor of Cervical Cancer awareness month, we hosted our 1st Annual Cervical Cancer awareness summit. LIP Programs

Ladies In Power has a core curriculum that teaches research-based informal education programs that encourage youth to take risks and master physical, intellectual and emotional challenges. Major programs address personal development, pregnancy and drug abuse prevention, media literacy, economic literacy, adolescent health, violence prevention, and sports participation.

Population We Serve

Ladies In Power serve young ladies between 11 – 18 years old. Some members are from low-income families and foster care.
